One and Done Golf Rules: A Beginner’s Guide

One and Done is a fantasy golf format where you pick one golfer for each event and can use that golfer only once in the same league. Your picks contribute to a running season total. The challenge is choosing who can help this week while keeping options for later.

Choose one golfer from each event’s field

Before an included tournament starts, choose one golfer who is in that event’s field. You are backing that golfer’s result for the whole event, rather than managing a roster of players.

For example, if you use a golfer at the first event, you must choose someone else at the second. Another member can select the same golfer as you; One and Done does not require a draft.

Use each golfer once per league

A used golfer is no longer available to you later in that league’s season. That makes your pick history as important as the current field. In Kaddy, each league has its own used-golfer history, so playing in another league does not use up a golfer in this one.

Saving every favorite for later can leave points on the table now. Look ahead at the league schedule, but make a pick you can justify for the current event.

Add each result to the season total

Many pools use tournament prize money: the earnings from each pick are added together. Other leagues use points. Kaddy lets commissioners choose earnings or FedEx points as the ranking metric.

Agree on the scoring metric before the first pick. A golfer’s tournament score relative to par is different from the earnings or points that count toward your league total.

Confirm deadlines and exception rules before playing

One and Done describes the core format, but pools can differ on their schedule and handling of missed picks, withdrawals, cancellations, and ties. Check your league’s displayed lock time and commissioner guidance instead of assuming every pool uses the same rules.

  • Confirm which tournaments count toward the league.
  • Check whether standings rank by earnings or FedEx points.
  • Know the pick deadline and check the field before submitting.
  • Ask how missed picks, withdrawals, and ties are handled.
  • Review your previous picks before planning the next one.
